Chris Robert Bamford, MA

Chris Robert BamfordChris has a unique blend of consulting, Human Resources, and international business leadership. During his 25 year career, the roles he has played have provided him with a wealth experiences that allows him to hold a variety of perspectives on complex business issues.

In his last position as Direct and General Manager of International business at Americhem, Chris led a turn-around effort that moved the Asian and European business from loss making to a profitable contributor.  He accomplished this by first creating a compelling vision and strategic plan that focused on market segmentation and growth, then by selecting, developing and supporting the regional leaders.

Prior to that role, Chris was Americhem’s top HR executive for 15 years. During that time, he participated in the doubling the size of the Company. By introducing innovative best practices, he partnered with other functional areas to ensure the Company had the people ready for growth. Among these were Performance Management systems, Talent Tracking and Succession Planning programs, installation of a Corporate University, Behaviorally Based Interviewing, and Compensation structures that rewarded team and individual performance. Acting as an internal Coach, Chris also personally worked with peer executives, managers, key professional and sales in the creating individual development plans. Chris also participated in several acquisitions in the U.S., and was part of the team that started up the plant in Suzhou, China.

Chris has a passion working with individuals and teams from different cultures. He has an in-depth working knowledge of business, legal, and cross-cultural issues facing International organizations. He has traveled extensively to China and Western Europe over the past 7 years.

Before Americhem, Chris worked at Cleveland based consulting firms offering services in Management Psychology. He has performed psychological assessments, provided 360 feedback and created developmental action plans for senior executives and managers. He also delivered a variety of training programs and led many organizational changes initiatives for clients.

Chris completed a bachelors degree for Clarion University of Pennsylvania in Psychology and a Master’s from Akron University in Industrial/Organization Psychology. He has attended several post-graduate programs at Gestalt Institute of Cleveland and is certified in a variety of training programs.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA., he met his wife Cindy, (Neurologist at the Cleveland Clinic) during graduate school in Akron. They currently live in Auburn, Ohio with their daughter Min (10). Chris is an avid fly fisherman, spending as much time as possible on rivers or saltwater flats around the world.
